Remy's World Comic #1 I Kept It Because It Was Mine
When I started creating this first issue, I didn't set out to write about weight. But the more comics I shared, the more people connected with the idea of carrying things that had become too heavy. Grief. Expectations. Regret. Old memories. Unkind words. The pressure to be okay. It kept appearing in different forms, so I realised this was a conversation I wanted to explore properly.
This comic begins and ends with Patch, a gentle tortoise who's been carrying the same rock for so long that it feels like part of who he is. Along the way, with the help of Remy, Nimbus and Lumi, he begins to ask whether healing always means letting go, or whether sometimes it's simply learning that you don't have to carry everything all at once. Inside you'll also find conversations about chronic illness, grief, healing and self-kindness, alongside little magazine pages, quizzes and nostalgic Y2K-inspired extras that made creating this issue so much fun. I hope this comic feels like sitting down with a cup of tea and someone who understands. Not because it has all the answers, but because sometimes it helps to know someone else has carried something heavy too.
